Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best recognized for her role as detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she won the Emmy Award. Her roles are All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of the United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a household worker. She grew up within a household which included four brothers. She dreamed of becoming a court reporter in her early years, but began modeling in high school eventually garnering commercials after moving into New York. She starred in 1981 as a naive teen in the film All My Children. Delaney is well-known as an actress who has been featured in a variety of television shows, and dramas. Her career as a professional has been more successful than her private life. Her personal life has been a mess. She's had two divorces that failed and fought with addiction issues. She was divorced in 2005 and lost custody of the only child she was born with.
